CHAPTER-1
It was a bright summer in Druid hills. Zaria was getting ready for school. Her life was like every other teenager and her character no different from any in many ways. She was indeed more spoilt than many others, being an only daughter, she was pampered a lot. She never learned to do things by herself and was extremely irresponsible. Her things were shattered around n the whole house and she never bothered topic them up. Even though all these defects existed in her she was not harsh or proud. If she ever raised her voice it was with her mom but she never meant to hurt anyone. She was shy and reserved. She had high moral values. For her, her values were the most important thing of all. She never did the things which went against her values. At college she tried to practice all her values to make herself perfect. So she always hurried off to college.
“Mom hurry, it’s getting late. I’ll go without food if you don’t come soon.”Zaria screamed out throwing her bag over her shoulder. She ran out of her room into the hall. Atil was waiting for her. She was her best friend. They had been friends since fifth grade. “Oh, Atil.  When did you come?”Zaria said as she donned her shoes.
“I came in when you were getting frustrated with your mom.” Atil said.
“What shall I do? She is always late.” Zaria said with a frown.
“Now now don’t get your head all bugged up. All parents are the same. At least your mom doses your work.” Ateel pointed out.
“Yeah but she interferes a lot.”Zaria sighed.
Just then her mom came out with her lunch box. “Here, Zaria darling. Now go to college, finish your work, take care and study well.”
“Mom this is enough. I’m quit grown up now.”
“You’ll always remain my baby.”
“Bye, love you.”  Zaria heard this as she hurried away.
On the way to her college she told Ateel kiddingly “I’m out of hell. What’s up with you? How’s your home?”
“As always no one talks, everyone’s busy with their own work. I feel like a stranger intruding on their privacy.”
Ateel lived with her uncle and aunt in the adjacent street.”
“Well it’s not so bad after all. You’re allowed to be on your own.”Zaria commented.
“Don’t be so sure about that.”Ateel sighed then changed the topic. “Did you complete the project?”
“Obviously it’s about unicorns, Pegasus and mermaids. Who in their right mind would not do it?”
“You love fantasy, don’t you?”Ateel asked.
“I thrive for imagination.”Zaria replied.
“What about eco?”
Zaria made a face and replied “No!!”
“Why not?” Ateel was a little shocked.
“I dint want to.” Zaria said plainly.
“I didn’t want to. Well it’s the same here. But somehow I did it coz I had to.”
“You are different Atil. I’m not like you .i don’t do stuff cuz I have to, I do it when I want to”
“Oh and when do you want to “Ateel asked
“When I am not forced by people, I’ll do it if they say, this thing and it can be done if you like but they don’t say it must be done, and then I’ll do it.”
“You’re unique “ Ateel said that she knew that her friend did not like others commanding her if someone dare to command she would reply by not obeying  them unless she feels that it was not exactly a command and she had the choose in her hand .
“No Atil I am strange.” Zaria said.
“It’s the same thing.”Ateel replied.
“No, it’s not unique means different in a good way and strange means different in a specific way may be good may be bad. That’s what I fill” Zaria explained.
“Whatever you say Zaria no one can tell you won’t become a great writer.”
“Who’s publishing my books at least not me” Zaria argued “I write for enjoyment and self pleasure, not to show the world. Let’s just stop arguing and part with a smile I’ll meet you later”
Zaria and Ateel went to their separate classes. Zaria loved collage for many reasons but most of all she loved because she felt proud to be educated and wanted to learn as much as she could. The only thing that troubled her was that she could not do as she liked, she had to follow the commands of the teachers regarding her study time she only wanted the teachers to get off the stupid rules of restricted imaginations and using excess facts which seemed like a virtual prison. She didn’t dislike any teachers they all thought real well but she dislikes the system as a whole. She had heard that it was in other countries where they had to completely memories things and she wondered about it. English was her favorite subject, as it gave her the freedom to imagine. It was like a dream come true when she learn new words or was now and then praised by her classmates. She was happy to know as much of English as she possible could .she could not imagine life without English .although her accent was not exactly American nor was her speech, she liked it just as it was because she did not really praise the modern English which killed half the letters and made everything short and the rest which existed was dived between words used for swearing against someone and a few reaming good words which were whole and complete. She dose took good care to shape her English by reading old books like Shakespeare, Jane Austin, and Charles Dickens etc. At home hers moms English bothered her because of the complete loss of pronunciations and accent. She knew that it was not her moms fault. They were not from America, they had only moved there when she was quit small. Her mom told her that they once lived in Aerona and one day will go back to their homeland. Zaria checked it upon net but could not find it. Thus coming down to a conclusion that it was really small and quit unimportant, and she didn’t want to go back.
Zaria’s day at college went fine and soon it was time to pack up and go home. As soon as the last class bell rang announcing the end of college, Zaria threw her books into her bag and ran to Atil’s class.
“You’re late Ateel, hurry up.” Zaria screamed. Atil stuffed her books in and ran out of the class. They walked towards their homes slowly talking merrily all the way. At last when the time came to part, Zaria asked “Can I come to your house in the evening?”
“Sure.” Ateel replied and they went to their homes.

CHAPTER-2
“Mom I’m home.” Zaria said throwing her shoes on one side.
“Zaria will you go and bring some vegetables?” Zaria’s mother said as she turned towards the kitchen. “And you may as well go for shopping for your birthday.
“Thanks mom for remembering.” Zaria enthusiastically replied. “I forgot that it’s after 2 days.”
“OK now go, have fun and don’t hurry back.”
“Mom” Zaria said noticing that her mom looked a bit tensed. “Mom what’s wrong?”
“No dear I am fine.” Her mom said.
“Sure” Zaria asked.
“Yes now you may go may peace be in your heart.”
“OK “Zaria said throwing her bag out and wearing her shoes.
“Well I don’t know what happened to my mom, but what do I do so why care.” Saying this she ran towards the taxi stand. “In 2 days I’ll turn 18. I don’t even know how I grew so much. Wow 18.”
Zaria bought a few cloths and was going to return when she noticed something like a bow and arrow in the adjacent shop. It was a pretty weapon with fine carvings and among the fine carvings there was a mark which resembled the tattoo on her hand. In all was it was perfect she liked it very much so she decided to by it.
“Excuse me what’s this” Zaria asked the shopkeeper
“This.” The shopkeeper said “it’s an antique. I don’t know what this is nor do I know from where and when it was brought. I think it was used in some ancient wars.”
“How much does it cost” Zaria asked
“500 dollars” the shopkeeper replied
Zaria realized that she had exactly 500 dollars left and if she used it know then she won’t have money left to pay her fare home. But she wanted it very much.
“Is it the last price” she asked
“Yes ma’am” the shopkeeper gave a clear reply.
“I can walk home” Zaria argued with herself “I’ve got legs. just Might put it into some use”.
She brought the weapon and walked home. It would take her an hour to reach home but she didn’t mind. She just walked all the way home.

Chapter 3
“At last I’m home” Zaria said to herself tired after walking for so long. She knocked the door but it flew open when she knocked it. There was something wrong, she thought to herself.
“Mom” Zaria called “Where are you.”
The whole house was in a disastrous condition. Everything was scattered. “Mom, where are you, I’m back.” Zaria was getting tensed. “Mom she screamed but no one answered.
“OK, Zaria it’s a bit strange but mom must have just gone out for some work of hers.” Zaria said consoling herself. “And all this is nothing.”
She went to the kitchen to keep the vegetables in the fridge. To her surprise she found a paper stuck on the fridge.
She took it and read. It was from her mother written at 5 pm.
It read
Dear Zaria
Get away from the house and this city as fast as you can. All the money you need is in the wardrobe in your room. There is a credit card if you need more. Do whatever you want but don’t stay here.
Yours loving
 Mom
Zaria was surprised, tensed and unable to make any sense out of the message which for sure was written in a hurry. But she din’t want to believe that something was wrong. Thus she told herself “Probably mom’s just playing with me, even though I have told her a thousand times that I’m grown up now she does not stop, there won’t be any money in my wardrobe. Mom must be hiding somewhere in the room and will come out and laugh at me when I check the wardrobe.” With these ideas Zaria went and checked in her wardrobe but she was wrong, the money was there and no mom. Still she wouldn’t believe “Mom just wants me to go for picnic with Atil on my birthday.” She said to herself and searched the wardrobe for the credit card and it was there and another note was kept was kept along with it. Zaria opened it hoping it was to inform her that all this was a joke but it was not. In it her mom had asked her to run away and never return. Now Zaria was getting scared,  she took all the money, the credit card and the notes, put them in a suitcase took a few of her cloths packed them, just then the phone rang. She ran to pick it sure that it would be her mother. She picked the phone and screamed into it “I knew it, it was a bad joke, and you failed.”
“Zaria” Ateel’s voice was heard “what are you talking about; I didn’t play a joke on you”
“Sorry Ateel” Zaria said “but why did you call”
“Did you forget” Ateel said
“Forget what” Zaria asked confused
“you were to come to my house” Ateel reminded
Zaria decided to tell everything to Ateel only then she would find relief. Thus she told Ateel that she was coming in a few minutes and hung the phone. She took her new weapon and the new cloths with a few old ones and left.
